Jewish Museum of Australia

The award-winning Jewish Museum of Australia, Gandel Centre of Judaica was established in 1982 and presents permanent and temporary exhibitions and learning programs.  It is located in Alma Road opposite one of Melbourne's most beautiful synagogues, the St Kilda Hebrew Congregation, and close to Temple Beth Israel.  Its Australian History Gallery tells of the unique contribution of Jews in Australia over the last 200 years.  Using the latest in multimedia technology, the exhibition describes the foremost events in Australian history and their impact on the Jews of Australia.  It traces the waves of migration to Australia and celebrates the vibrant, dynamic Jewish community of this country.
